This is a time when so many people are experiencing loss and hard times. Loss of income, loss of their job, loss of capital, even loss of their home. It's a terrible experience to lose an important part of one's life. I can truly sympathise because, there was a time in my past that I lost everything. I mean, everything.
With hindsight wisdom, I have observed how those traumatic events were actually a blessing in disguise. I like to think of this piece of wisdom gleaned from that experience: that this is our destiny calling us to change the direction of our lives. This is Lady Luck in disguise, if only we would see this event as an opportunity to walk through a door into a new life, one that has been waiting for us to see it all along.
As scholar and author of numerous books on world mythology said, "Follow your bliss and doors will open where you never knew they existed." If only in those darkest hours, and I know very well how dark they can really be, we only need to imagine what we would really like to do with our lives then move in that direction. I promise you, once we make a single move doors will open. As long as it's in harmony with our life's true purpose.
Finding that purpose is perhaps the hardest part of all. Where do we find it. Once you get the idea then a new world begins to grow inside our imagination and we begin an adventure that is fulfilling, one that will make us happy, that will bring us good luck in our relationships, our new careers, our prosperity, our success, our entire world.
In his inspiring book 'The Hero With a Thousand Faces' Campbell writes of the "call to adventure." In this case adventure simply means a life experience no matter how significant or insignificant. "Refusal of the summons [to the adventure]," he writes, "converts the adventure into its negative. Walled in boredom, hard work, or 'culture,' the subject loses the power of significant affirmative action and becomes a victim to be saved."
